We are pleased to announce that "gallery UG x CONTEMPO," a group exhibition by six of our resident artists, is being held at Sands Gallery in Macau until May 5, 2024.
The exhibition was held from February 1 to March 30 as part of "CONTEMPO: Macau Japan Spring Festival," a historical event that opens a new chapter of culture and art in the Macau SAR, one of the world's top travel destinations and one of Asia's most popular tourist destinations. Due to the popularity of the exhibition, we are pleased to announce that it will be extended.
gallery UG is pleased to announce “UG [OSAKAN] vol.2”, a group exhibition held at gallery UG Osaka Umeda from April 3 (Wed) to April 23 (Tue).
Our debut exhibition, "UG [OSAKAN]," in February was so well received that we've decided to hold volume 2. Alongside new works by artists from volume 1, this group exhibition will feature artists making their first appearance at our Osaka Umeda location.
This time, the exhibition will be larger in volume and will be held jointly with ART GALLERY UMEDA.
gallery UG Tennoz is excited to announce the upcoming solo exhibition, "WORLD EXPANSION" by Keitoku Toizumi, running from Friday, April 19 to Saturday, May 11.
Toizumi shared his thoughts on the exhibition, which is his third solo show at our gallery.
“During the past year, I have spent a lot of time working on new projects to broaden the scope of my own artistic expression.
My goal was to expand my own world by removing the boundaries between original and reproduction, two-dimensional and three-dimensional, and by incorporating new expressions, without being confined to the limited expression of tableaus.
I will present my first edition work, which was created by fusing two tableaus into one, and my first three-dimensional work called "Genie", which appeared by chance from an unintended form, as well as a new world that expands from these pieces.”
Keitoku Toizumi
Toizumi creates intricate stories by carefully arranging an eclectic mix of toys and antique objects. These, along with the Pink Army figures, represent his imaginary universe. During this exploration, Toizumi unwittingly introduced a new character, the "Genie," which expanded his artistic universe. Building on this concept, a new series arises, expressing Toizumi's changing perspective on his creative world.
The exhibition will highlight 15 captivating new pieces, including edition works of Toizumi's renowned Pink Army figures.
We invite you to immerse yourself in this artistic journey and experience Toizumi's boundless imagination firsthand.

In moments when I feel like I’m in a place independent of my surroundings,
I sometimes feel like I’m in a different time and space.
The feeling is like clouds or smoke that change shape with no regard for time
that people have to live by, and it also feels like a space of my own.
To turn, various scenes that came up in my imagination from things I encountered.
To express freedom, time and desires that are on the verge of being discarded from memory.
That is what is important, in order for me to be me and for a person to be them self.
The motifs chosen by Nami OKADA for her artwork are places she has visited personally. Her artwork arouses feelings of déjà vu and of reaching across time in viewers, whose backgrounds all differ.
Each person forms a distinct impression of a given building or piece of scenery due to the differences in their memories and experiences. Such spaces thus possess a multitude of forms.
It is only when there is commonality in the interpretations of multiple viewers that a given piece of scenery takes on certain meaning.
OKADA brings life to One View by exploring the relationship between pieces of scenery that have taken on meaning due to the overlapping of such commonalities and pieces of scenery whose meaning has yet to take shape.
