A single gallery can offer many different perspectives.
Beyond our represented artists we usually feature, we will also feature artists from Japan and abroad including Robert Rauschenberg.
Through the art of 11 artists, this exhibition invites you to view “another side” of gallery UG Fukuoka.
It has almost been a year since we opened our gallery. We hope that by presenting a slightly different scenery from before, you can discover new pieces of art or even new perspectives.
JR Nagoya Takashimaya, 7th Floor Event Space 1 & Rose Patio
gallery UG is pleased to present 「Me and Me・You and I」by two of our represented artists Ryosuke KAWAHIRA and Kunihiko NOHARA, from Wednesday, August 12, 2026 to Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 at the special event space on the 7th floor of JR Nagoya Takashimaya.
We warmly invite you to come visit the exhibition if you are in Nagoya.
「Me and Me・You and I」
Ryosuke Kawahira and Kunihiko Nohara both use their personal experiences and feelings as a starting point, transforming them into familiar shapes.
The characters that appear in Kawahira’s artwork were born from his inner consciousness through childhood memories, fears and complexes. However, in contrast Nohara’s artwork draws from his own memories and moments of happiness while leaving the meaning and interpretation to the viewers.
The words “me (ぼく)”, “me (ボク)” and “me (僕)” within the exhibition’s title, while the same word refer to different subjects. “Me (ボク) represents the presence within the artist, while “you (キミ) ” represents the viewer that sees the art. And in the place where both meet, a new “me” (僕) rises.
Viewing a piece of art doesn’t mean learning about one’s story, it is about reconnecting with your own memories and emotions.
This exhibition attempts to explore the other “me” (僕) that appears between the artist’s “me” (ボク) and the viewer’s “you” (キミ).
gallery UG is pleased to announce that our represented artist, Ryosuke Kawahira, will be participating in the “ART OF MIKU – Taipei Exhibition –,” opening on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Ryosuke Kawahira's works will be exhibited only during the First Stage of the exhibition.
“ART OF MIKU” is a project in which contemporary artists engage with the appeal and potential of the Piapro Characters—centered around the virtual singer Hatsune Miku—and present new expressions through contemporary art.
Transcending the boundaries of music and character culture, Hatsune Miku has been loved across generations, genres, and borders. Her presence, along with the culture of “co-creation,” continues to inspire many artists. Each artist presents their own interpretation of Hatsune Miku through diverse media, including painting, sculpture, video, and digital expression.
As this exhibition will feature the largest number of works to date, “ART OF MIKU – Taipei Exhibition –” will be held in two phases: the First Stage and the Second Stage.
If you happen to be in Taipei, we warmly invite you to visit.

"Connecting artworks to people, connecting people to each other through art."
galleryUG are always there for our artists.
We will grow together with the artists and support them from production to promotion.
We aim to further enrich and expand the contemporary art scene by proposing the ideal way for galleries to be.
I express visions inspired by ordinary daily life, where animals happily coexist and warm feelings of nostalgia prevail. I hope viewers will cherish their imagination, which is often overlooked in today's fast-paced world, and the time they spend relaxing. Through my work, I encourage them to freely imagine the stories that lie beyond the artwork.
In moments when I feel like I’m in a place independent of my surroundings,
I sometimes feel like I’m in a different time and space.
The feeling is like clouds or smoke that change shape with no regard for time
that people have to live by, and it also feels like a space of my own.
To turn, various scenes that came up in my imagination from things I encountered.
To express freedom, time and desires that are on the verge of being discarded from memory.
That is what is important, in order for me to be me and for a person to be them self.
