information

We are pleased to announce that gallery UG Tennoz will hold a group exhibition of Junko ASANO, Takashi ONISHI, Nami OKADA, and LIN Chia Hung's works entitled “Laissez-faire Vol.10” from April 1 (Sat) to April 15 (Sat).

The exhibition “Laissez-faire” was first held at the Ueno Royal Museum gallery in 2014 to commemorate the gallery’s 15th anniversary, and has since been exhibited in Singapore and other countries.
Laissez-faire is a French word meaning “leave it to chance”, frequently used in economics and is generally translated as “liberalism”.

What “Laissez-faire” means to us:
It is a slogan that expresses a part of the attitude of how we, as a gallery, relate to artists in the current art industry, which has been on the edge of a revolution.
This exhibition marks the 10th time that UG has continuously held this exhibition, based on the idea of sharing our thoughts and affection for artists and their works.

For this milestone exhibition, vol.10, we will welcome LIN Chia Hung, the exclusive artist of Taiwan iart Gallery, and will feature other three artists who also are preparing for their solo exhibitions at UG.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Born 1984 in Taiwan, Chia-hung LIN signed exclusively with iart Gallery in 2022, and he is an artist who specializes in using simple and straightforward images and calm and collected emotions to convey social issues and to further raise questions and prompt reflections in people. Lin’s most recognized creative motif is the big-eye girls in his paintings. The girls he paints sometimes appear repressed and dejected, but their melancholic looks have a lovely and adorable charm about them. In addition to focusing on releasing personal emotions through art, the artist also likes to recount short fables based on observations he’s made in life.
