We are pleased to announce that Nami Okada, an exclusive artist of gallery UG, will be participating in the "WHAT CAFE EXHIBITION vol.37: Canvas of a Narrative" at WHAT CAFE, an art gallery café operated by TERRADA Warehouse, from Friday, September 13, 2024, to Sunday, September 29, 2024.
This exhibition, themed around the keyword "narrative," will showcase approximately 150 to 200 works by 16 artists selected by WHAT CAFE for their ability to evoke storytelling. Okada’s works, which feature landscapes as motifs, were chosen for their capacity to inspire narratives within the viewer. During the exhibition, the participating artists will be present at the venue, and various events are planned, providing an opportunity for visitors to engage with the artists and feel a closer connection to art.
【About Nami Okada】
Nami Okada was born in Gunma Prefecture in 1991 and graduated from Tama Art University’s Graduate School in 2016. Her work explores the relationship between time and memory through collaged landscape paintings. Notable exhibitions in 2023 include Mother New York (New York), NANJO SELECTION vol.2 "A Whiter Shade of Pale" at N&A Art SITE (Tokyo), the 10th Anniversary Exhibition "New Horizon: From History to the Future" at Arts Maebashi (Gunma), and her solo exhibition "Flow of Time" at Ginza Tsutaya Books (Tokyo). In 2024, she is scheduled to exhibit at Meet Your Art Festival (Tokyo) and Takasaki City Museum of Art (Gunma).

【About WHAT CAFE】
WHAT CAFE is a facility that exhibits and sells contemporary art by artists who are expected to lead the future of Japan's art industry. With a spacious area of 800 square meters and plenty of natural light, the venue provides an ideal setting for the display of art. By rotating the entire collection for each exhibition period, WHAT CAFE offers numerous artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their works, while providing visitors with a fresh encounter with art every time they visit. In addition, the café hosts workshops, events, and social gatherings that are linked to the exhibition content, creating a space where art can be enjoyed and experienced through all five senses. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks in the café space, surrounded by art. Since August 2022, WHAT CAFE has been organizing exhibitions under the concept of "ART IS..." with the aim of offering visitors a chance to reflect on what art means to them and discover new insights.
