**Exhibition Announcement: "Ukiyo-e Contemporary"**

Gallery UG is pleased to announce that our exclusive artist, **Nami Okada**, will be exhibiting her woodblock prints at the exhibition **"Ukiyo-e Contemporary"**, organized by the Adachi Foundation for the Preservation of Traditional Woodcut Printing. The exhibition will be held at the **Tokyo National Museum, Hyokeikan**, from **Tuesday, April 22, to Sunday, June 15**.

### **About the Exhibition**
Japanese woodblock printing developed uniquely within Edo-period culture, giving rise to the vibrant and dynamic art form of **ukiyo-e**. The word "ukiyo" means "contemporary" or "of the moment," and ukiyo-e prints served as a vivid medium reflecting the society and trends of their time.

The sophisticated woodblock printing techniques that produced masterpieces by **Sharaku, Utamaro, and Hokusai** have been passed down through generations of artisans. Using **wild cherry woodblocks, sumi ink, and water-based pigments on washi paper**, these prints achieve crisp lines and delicate colors, remaining an unparalleled art form.

This exhibition presents works created by a diverse group of contemporary artists, designers, and creators who have been inspired by the **expressive power of traditional woodblock printing**. In collaboration with **Adachi Woodcut Printing Studio's skilled carvers and printers**, these artists have become the **"ukiyo-e masters" of today**, producing new works that connect tradition with the present and future.

With **approximately 80 participating artists**, this exhibition invites you to explore the **timeless potential of traditional woodblock printing in the modern age**.
