We are pleased to announce that gallery UG Tennoz Annex will host Commemorative Exhibition for the Yamaguchi Prefecture Arts and Culture Promotion Award Osamu Watanabe's "The Genealogy of Sweetness", from Friday, July 25 to Saturday, August 9, 2025.


Osamu Watanabe, renowned for his whimsical sculptures adorned with pure white whipped cream and colorful macaroons, invites viewers into a dreamy world that elicits smiles and nostalgia. As a contemporary artist, Watanabe pioneered the integration of confectionery motifs into fine art, transforming food sample aesthetics into captivating sculptures. Since his notable debut, he has actively exhibited both domestically and internationally, earning recognition for his extensive contributions to museum exhibitions across Japan.

In 2025, Watanabe will hold exhibitions at the Wood One Museum of Art in Hiroshima in June, the Museum of Art, Ehime in July, and the Fukui Fine Arts Museum in September.


We are pleased to announce "The Genealogy of Sweetness", a solo exhibition by Osamu Watanabe, commemorating his receipt of the Yamaguchi Prefecture Arts and Culture Promotion Award.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me over the years.
The origin of my creative journey lies in the childhood memories of baking alongside my mother. These memories, later fused with the technique of sweets decoration, have evolved into artworks that appeal not only visually but emotionally—evoking both sweetness and sentiment.

This exhibition brings together works that trace the trajectory of my 25-year career, offering a glimpse into a world of sweet, visualized memories.
I hope visitors will enjoy stepping away from reality for a moment, and embark on a journey through the space between dreams and the real world.
