gallery UG (Headquarters: Higashi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo / President: Eiichiro Sasaki) is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition "sora" by Kunihiko Nohara at gallery UG Tennoz from September 2 (Thu), 2021.
Gallery UG Tennoz opened in September last year, and we would like to thank everyone for making it possible for us to celebrate our first anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, we are pleased to present a solo exhibition by our resident artist Kunihiko Nohara, who has been working with us for about 13 years.
This exhibition will focus on the collaborative works of contemporary art and traditional crafts that Nohara has been working on for the past several years. In addition to Nohara's main focus on wood carving, the exhibition will feature Kanbun kosode and obi (the oldest hand-painted Kyoto Yuzen and Nishijin textiles), which were exhibited at the Southeast Corner Tower of Nijo Castle in May this year. Also not to be missed is Nohara's iconic omelet cloak made by a lacquer and gold leaf craftsman.
Please come and see the new appeal and unique world view of traditional craftsmanship by Nohara.
Stars, snow, rain, a series of moments, ephemeral.
