gallery UG Tennoz is pleased to announce that the fifth solo exhibition by Takaoki Tajima will be held from October 24th to November 15th, 2025.

Takaoki TAJIMA was born into a lineage of Buddhist sculptors and is the fifth generation in his family. At a young age he was surrounded by art so it was natural for him to immerse himself into the world of sculptures.

While inheriting and mainly focusing on traditional wood carving techniques, in recent years he has expanded his artistic expression to include paintings, drawings, ceramics, and more. By crossing genres he has created a world of modernistic works full of unique originality.

The exhibition titled 「This Boy」 will feature wood carvings that combine symbolic forms with delicate textures along with new two dimensional artworks that the artist has focused on in recent years. These creations, while humorous, have a sense of curious tension that will spark the viewer’s imagination.

TAJIMA's multifaceted style where technique and memory along with lightness and depth coexist, offering a fresh perspective on the nature of form in the modern era.
