gallery UG Osaka Umeda is excited to announce "Laissez-faire”, a group exhibition by 15 artists, running from Wednesday, August 6, to Tuesday, September 2.
”Laissez-fair” is a French phrase meaning “let it go” or “let it be.” In economics and politics, it refers to a principle advocating minimal government intervention and respect for individual and market freedom. The concept stems from the ideas of Adam Smith, often referred to as the father of modern economics.
The 18th century, during which Smith lived, was a time of modernization, marked by technological innovation and economic progress. Today, we too find ourselves at a pivotal turning point in history. The title of this exhibition reflects gallery UG’s ongoing theme—the belief that the freedom of expression and the sense of liberation it brings are more essential than ever in these turbulent times.
We look forward to welcoming you.
