Watanabe is a pioneering contemporary artist known for bringing sweets decoration—once considered a part of food-sample culture—into the world of contemporary art. His works, adorned with pure white whipped cream and colorful macarons, exude a dreamlike charm that naturally brings a smile to the viewer’s face.

Since his striking debut, Watanabe has exhibited extensively both in Japan and abroad. Today, he is recognized as one of the Japanese artists with the most frequent museum exhibitions, earning wide acclaim for his unique practice.
